“The band is tight as hell. Great rhythm playing behind killer solos. The drums remind me a bit of Rock Action. The bass lines are exceptional on “This Is Fine”. All very cool.”
— Deniz Tek, Radio Birdman
Formed on November 15 of 1995, in the basement of Scorpio McSatan’s Kung Fu Lounge (an infamous DIY basement venue), by four young men on quest to reinvigorate the real Rock ‘N’ Roll, the legendary Ann Arbor cosmic punk band, MAZINGA is again back on their self-aggrandizing, gonzo, high-wire shit.
After 3 decades (minus several sanity breaks) of continuous gigging and recording, releasing highly acclaimed jams, and performing for tens of fans across multiple time zones, MAZINGA is now poised to drop another steaming helping of piping hot Rock directly into the world’s collective Rock-starved cakehole. Their latest spectacular full length 12” vinyl platter is entitled “Chinese Democracy Manifest, Greatest Hits, Vol. II”. This new release finds the MAZINGA boyz on a one-way mission straight into Rock ‘N’ Roll oblivion, singularly focused on one objective: Total sonic assault on your brain in order to release your soul from cultural bondage.
The band features all original members, Marc McFinn serves as your smooth lyricsmith and creamy crooning vocalist, Big Tony Fero provides lowest of the low bass lines and also weirdo graphix, Donny “Downtown Detroit” Blum (yeah, that guy who was in The Von Bondies) beats out the forbidden voodoo rhythms that make you go “Ooooh”, and Chris “Box” Taylor unleashes destructive sound waves through his guitar that leave mere mortals reeling with delight and the abandonment of their dreary daily existence.
